OUR

PROJECTS

KDI has implemented several State, Regional, and National Projects with great success stories, which has provided an avenue for KDI to demonstrate its prowess and expertise as an organization in the area of data-driven policy advocacies and technical analysis.

Citizen Participation Projects

This project is centered on the development of a generative AI tool aimed at transforming how Nigerian citizens, particularly youth, access and engage with information about the country’s election ecosystem. At its core, the initiative seeks to address the persistent electoral information gap by creating a user-friendly platform that simplifies complex electoral legal frameworks and delivers bite-sized, easily digestible information.

The primary goal is to empower citizens with the knowledge they need to actively participate in the democratic process. By enhancing political consciousness and understanding, the tool will foster a culture of constructive engagement, especially among young people who are often underrepresented in electoral activities.

Furthermore, the platform will serve as a reliable resource for real-time, comprehensive information, enabling citizens to make informed decisions during elections.

Through this innovative use of AI technology, the project aims to democratize access to electoral information, promote transparency, and inspire a new generation of informed and engaged citizens. By bridging the gap between citizens and the electoral process, this initiative will contribute to a more inclusive, transparent, and vibrant democracy in Nigeria.

The project with support from the International Republican Institute (IRI) through the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) aims to promote political inclusion for marginalized groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities, within Nigeria's political landscape. By fostering strategic partnerships with political parties and enhancing the capacities of these groups through targeted training and advocacy, the project seeks to empower underrepresented voices and ensure their active participation in political processes.

The theory of change is rooted in the belief that by equipping marginalized groups with the necessary skills and creating an enabling environment for dialogue, we can dismantle existing barriers to inclusion within political parties. Through a series of structured engagements, such as roundtable dialogues and technical sessions, the project will facilitate the development and implementation of actionable strategies that enhance inclusivity and strengthen internal party democracy. Ultimately, this initiative aims to build a more representative democracy in Nigeria, where diverse perspectives contribute to informed decision-making and effective governance.
